Installation Guide

Installing JFTP on Windows 

  • Download the appropriate Setup executable (.exe file) for Windows 
  • Double click on the downloaded file to start the installation 
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation 
  • Launch JFTP by using one of the shortcuts created by the installer 

Installing JFTP on Mac OS X 

  • Download the appropriate Disk Image for Mac OS X 
  • Mount the Disk Image by double clicking on the downloaded file 
  • Double click on JFTP Installer to start the installation 
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation 
  • Launch JFTP by using one of the shortcuts created by the installer 

Installing JFTP on Linux 

  • Download the appropriate Setup executable (.sh file) for Linux 
  • Mark the downloaded file as an executable, if needed
  • Double click on the downloaded file to start the installation
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation
  • Launch JFTP by using one of the shortcuts created by the installer 

Installing JFTP on Solaris/AIX/HP-UX 

  • Install JRE 1.6 or later 
  • Download the appropriate Setup executable (.sh file) for Solaris/AIX/HP-UX 
  • Mark the downloaded file as an executable, if needed 
  • Run the downloaded file by either double clicking on the file or by running it from the Terminal 
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation 
  • Launch JFTP by using one of the links created by the installer 

Installing JFTP on all other platforms 

  • Install JRE 1.6 or later on the target system 
  • Download the Platform-neutral installer (.zip or .tar.gz file) 
  • Extract the contents of the downloaded archive to a directory of choice 
  • Launch JFTP by using one of the following methods:
    • Double clicking on jftp-[version].jar located in the installation directory 
    • Running the command java -jar jftp-[version].jar from a Terminal
